Virgil Crest 50k -1st place woman

I went into this race thinking of it as “training run” and decided to take it nice and easy!  I started out running with the lead men, and soon started running with another fast female .  Since I was treating it as nothing more than I training run, I decided to run with her and try to enjoy the day.  However, as the race progressed she began to struggle, and after staying with her through a few rough patches I decided to surge forward and take the lead.  In the last 10km of the race I passed 3 men, and took 1st place female, finishing 30mins ahead of 2nd place (the female I had been running with)

Ghost Train Trail 50k – 1st place female and new female course record

You know those days when everything clicks, and then starts to fall apart?  This was one of those races!  The day started out smoothly and I settled into pace with the lead group with 2 other men.  We ran what I like to call a “comfortably uncomfortable” pace to start.  This pace quickly picked up and it seemed as though we were each pushing one another.  By the 30km I was seriously hurting, and started to notice a sharp pain in my hamstring, however being only 20k from the finish and with such a sizable lead over the 2nd place female I decided to push forward and just live with the pain.  I must say, the last 10k were extremely painful, and I was reduced to limp-run!  IT WAS ALL WORTH IT!!  I ended up 1st place female, 2nd overall and I broke the female course record by 1hr and 10 mins.
